SAN FRANCISCO–(
)–TwitchTV, the world’s leading live video game broadcasting network, today announced its free iOS and Android applications, which were developed to meet growing consumer demand for on-the-go access to live gaming broadcasts. The iOS application is a single, universal app for both iPhone and iPad.“We’ve heard the TwitchTV community loud and clear”
“We’ve heard the TwitchTV community loud and clear,” said Emmett Shear, CEO of TwitchTV. “The single most requested feature by our community since we launched has been the ability to watch and chat from phones and tablets. TwitchTV fans watch eSports matches, sneak peeks at upcoming titles, game marathons for charity, and much more. Those fans have let us know they want access to that content all the time. Our goal is to be everywhere our audience is, so we’ve taken a big step forward by enabling TwitchTV for all iOS and Android devices.”
The iOS application’s key features include the ability to view all of TwitchTV’s streaming content in high definition in full landscape mode. For ease of use, it boasts extremely robust search functionality, such as the ability to browse by game or featured offerings. It also allows users to follow their favorite channels directly from the video stream, as well as the ability to view a list of live broadcasts from the channels they follow. In addition, users can chat with their friends on the video stream via a fully-featured in-app chat.
The applications are now available for free download at:
