Simplexo, the UK search specialist, has announced the launch of ‘SearchYourCloud’, an ultra-secure service that enables users to search information stored in the Cloud, all with one click.
Based on the architecture of the groundbreaking ‘SearchYourDesktop’, the technology enables files that are stored on one or more computers, hand held devices or in a Cloud store, to be indexed and securely searched. According to Simon Bain the CTO of Simplexo: “Our Cloud store index enables users secure ‘full-text’ search access to their files without opening up any security threat.” Bain added: “While the index allows users a ‘full-text’ search experience, it actually holds no file contents, making it very safe to use in a Cloud environment.”
The service also allows read-only access to emails from one or more mailboxes such as Google Mail, Yahoo Mail, Microsoft Exchange and other types of POP3 services.
With the growing rise in Cloud Computing for both individuals and corporates, security is now becoming a paramount concern. This makes a technology like ‘SearchYourCloud’ highly relevant. By supplementing traditional security such as firewalls and data-encryption, Simplexo’s technology enables concurrent access to structured and unstructured information in an ultra-secure manner, regardless of form factor or platform.
Bain stated: “The ‘SearchYourCloud’ technology gives users the ability to search and retrieve content that is not available to traditional search engines, for example documents from your desktop computer or photos from your hand held device. “This, combined with our unique level of security, allows people to access information that before may have been unavailable to them while travelling or working remotely.”

According to research commissioned by the Cloud Industry Forum (CIF), one of the biggest barriers hindering Cloud uptake centres on security. Whilst developing ‘SearchYourCloud’, Simplexo recognised this concern and made addressing it a top priority.
Bain concluded: “Our security model for “secure remote access” avoids the need to establish a direct network connection between a mobile and host computer/ network. This avoids the need for extensive firewalls or network layer security as no persistent connections are used. It also addresses concerns associated with mobile device theft as no data or security credentials are cached on the device, meaning sensitive, corporate data is not put at risk.”
Information is readily accessible through the SearchYourCloud HTML 5 web-based client application, which is optimised for use on mobile devices such as the iPhone, iPad, Android Smartphones and tablets.
