AIZU WAKAMATSU, Japan–(BUSINESS WIRE)–GClue, Inc. (GClue), a developer of smart phone applications and middleware, has officially released Droidget Camera that displays widgets within camera view, applying GClue’s proprietary Droidget widget player technology for smart phones. Droidget Camera, available through the Android Market, displays widgets while in camera view on an Android device, and is the world’s first attempt1 to output a combination of widgets and photographs.
“Also, we are considering to build up Widget Gallery where developers can upload their widgets, and users can choose and download them.”
“There are very likely many different scenarios where users will want to combine information with photographs at the instant they take them. By incorporating a flexible and easily presentable widget player into the camera, we thought we could realize the various functionalities of different widgets,” said Yasuyuki Saito, Senior Vice President of GClue. “Also, we are considering to build up Widget Gallery where developers can upload their widgets, and users can choose and download them.”
Through the use of the Droidget Camera, by displaying widgets in camera view, it is possible to take photos together with the widgets, which could be a map displaying location information, date displays in customized fonts, information and images from a notebook, etc. In addition, GClue also offers users the ability to freely customize such that widgets can be used for decorative purposes, by adding artistic images as well.
Users can download and use widgets they like with their Android device cameras from the Widget Gallery, which is a widget market operated by GClue.
GClue will continue to develop diverse ways to use widgets.
